Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Starting in 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American families and businesses were able to save $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. All Pella® products meet or exceed ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. How does this impact you? Not only might you see a decline to your heating and cooling costs, you will help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are each specifically designed and made-to-order for your home, meaning no two projects are the same. Our wide range of products make it difficult to discuss pricing without first bearing in mind your needs, wants and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it useful to send out a Pella sales representative who will give you a quoted project price upon seeing the project site itself. To speed up the quoting process, your Pella® sales representative is equipped with a computer and a portable printer so that they can give you all the quote information you’ll need—as soon as the sales representative has had a chance to consider the requirements of the task and aligns them with your vision.

In addition to offering a large range of high-quality products to select from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you fantastic window and door products at affordable prices, providing you with a chance to make the home improvements you want to while building great value into your Albany area home while you do it.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We recommend that you clean them with a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning mix or use an ammonia-free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. Or you can make your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Put the solution on a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. We do not suggest using glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based as they have a tendency to produce streaks or create a film that attracts moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses dependable installers who are certified to install Pella doors and windows. We require them to complete a rigid set of training courses so that your windows and doors are installed properly and meet Pella’s strict warranty standards. We find the best Albany-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Prior to beginning our relationship, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are are insured by liability and workers compensation insurance. In addition to Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Pella provides services and support that “big box” stores can’t match. Our experts are highly-trained in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Using a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and quality installers means that your project will have the expertise of our whole team. We commonly use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. Simply contact our office, your sales representative, or our project manager with any questions or concerns you may have and we will get to work resolving the issue.
