Basement Windows

Windows have the ability to make your basement appear more pleasing and improve safety. Large basement windows, sometimes known as "egress windows," from Pella of Albany are created to let more light into underground spaces than the older, smaller, rectangular windows that sit above ground. They also give you a way out in case of an emergency.

The biggest differentiator between basement, or egress, windows and standard windows is that basement windows have to be made for an average-sized person to escape through in order to meet safety requirements set up in building codes. You are able to choose from properly sized casement, sliding or double-hung windows when you install basement windows. Make sure you completely understand local building codes before you purchase basement windows.
